    Jubilant Katie Piper completes the charity 10k run while raising funds for her foundation’s rehabilitation centre

    Katie Piper looked delighted to have successfully completed the ASICS London 10k on Sunday.

    The philanthropist, 37, raised her hands in the air and cheered at the finish line after competing in the race to raise money for The Katie Piper Foundation Rehabilitation Centre.

    Her charity was set up in 2009 to help UK burn victims with intensive rehabilitation and scar management.

    In a videos and pictures shared to Instagram she could be seen sounding the klaxon to start the race and joking around with the friends that ran with her.

    She took to the social media site after the event to thank her team for taking part.

    The model wrote: ‘WE DID IT! Another amazing year leading #TeamKatie in the @Asics London 10k. Raising money for the @KPFoundation which will go towards helping us to reopen the doors to our rehabilitation centre, the only one of it’s kind in the UK!

    ‘Running once again with an incredible team of survivors and their supporters.’

    Katie used the Asics Mind Uplifter tool during the race to measure the effect the exercise had on her mental state, adding in a statement: ‘I’ve had such an amazing day taking part in the ASICS London 10K.

    ‘I’m a real believer in the power of exercise to help boost my mental well-being so to be able to see the uplift today’s race has had on my mind and for others using the Mind Uplifter has been really powerful.’

    Katie underwent groundbreaking surgery after she was attacked with acid in 2008.

    She gave up her right to anonymity to help raise awareness for burns victims.

    Sharing a picture of herself running in a previous race on Instagram earlier this month, Katie wrote: ‘Between the pouring sweat, the unflattering photos and the MANY aches and pains that come along with it, there’s always an incredible sense of unity, community and accomplishment that comes with running to raise money for causes so personal to me.

    ‘That’s why I’m lacing up my trainers again. I’m so excited to lead this year’s #TeamKatie at the Asics London 10k.

    ‘I’ll be running with a team of burn survivors and their supporters, all of us determined to raise funds that will help us reopen the doors to our Rehabilitation Centre – the only one of it’s kind in the UK.

    ‘So we’re going big: we want to raise £10,000 for each of the 10k races we do this year.’
