Royal expert Katie Nicholl said the Duchess of Cambridge has become the “pillar of strength, guide and mentor” for her husband that he has previously been for her. Ms Nicholl added that William has “had a really hard time” with his younger brother and has “really struggled with it” but Kate has “been a rock”.

The royal author told the Telegraph: “Kate’s very much been the pillar of strength, guide and mentor for William that he has always been for her.

“He’s had a really hard time with his brother, he’s really struggled with it and she’s been a rock.”

A royal insider echoed Ms Nicholl’s remarks, telling the newspaper: “They are both very similar in the respect that they are quite shy people who have sometimes struggled with life in the limelight.

“A lot of the Duchess’s growing confidence is down to him.

“She has never tried to be the frontman and always seen herself more in a supporting role, but he’s tried to push her out of that at points.

“He knows what she can achieve.

    “But it works both ways.

“When he is having a difficult time, she is the one who helps him through it.”

Meghan and Harry made a set of damaging claims about the Royal Family during their controversial Oprah Winfrey interview, which aired in March.

Harry went on to lash out at his family during an appearance on the Armchair Expert podcast earlier this month.

And he spoke out once again in his Apple TV documentary series on mental health, The Me You Can’t See, which he teamed up with Winfrey for.

Harry returned to the UK for the first time since Megxit for Prince Philip’s funeral last month.

Kate was widely praised for acting as a peacemaker between William and his younger brother.

The Duchess was spotted chatting to Harry before stepping away and giving him and William some space and privacy.
