What is Sharia law?
Sharia law is a legal system in Islam. It is used as a code of conduct for Islamic people and is derived from the Quran and rulings of Islamic scholars.
Sharia is built on teachings and practices of the Prophet Mohammed, but also draws from Ijma’a, the consensus of Muslim scholars, and Qiyas, which is reasoning through analogy.
Under Sharia law, all human actions are regulated – they are categorised as obligatory, recommended, permitted, disliked, or permitted.
