Issa Rae gets one last chance for a little reflection in the first trailer for the final season of HBO’s Insecure.
Series co-creator and star Issa Rae returns as Issa Dee, along with the rest of the main cast as they, ‘evaluate their relationships, both new and old, in an effort to figure out who and what comes with them in this next phase of their lives,’ according to the series description.
The fifth season also stars series regulars Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis, Natasha Rothwell, Amanda Seales and Courtney Taylor.

The trailer begins with a number of different shots of Issa looking at herself in various different mirrors, as she’s heard saying, ‘Wow, Issa, you were so simple then.’
We see a number of other shots of Issa as she’s heard saying in voice over, ‘I just want to be drama-free and happy.’
She adds, ‘I keep fronting everybody like I’m not scared of what’s next for me, but I am terrified,’ as we see more shots of Issa reflecting on her life.
Simple: The trailer begins with a number of different shots of Issa looking at herself in various different mirrors, as she’s heard saying, ‘Wow, Issa, you were so simple then.
Fronting: She adds, ‘I keep fronting everybody like I’m not scared of what’s next for me, but I am terrified,’ as we see more shots of Issa reflecting on her life
‘So, what am I supposed to do now?’ she asks of herself, as we see more shots of her reflecting.
She’s seen saying, ‘Maybe there’s a little voice in your head telling you that you’re not done?’ when Issa looks back at herself and says, ‘That’s you. You’re the voice in the back of my head,’ as the voice starts laughing while the trailer comes to an end.
HBO announced back in January that the fifth season of Insecure would be the show’s last.

While Insecure may be coming to a close, Issa Rae herself is just getting started with the premium cable network.
Rae signed a five-year overall deal with HBO’s parent company, WarnerMedia for film and television projects, which will be developed through her company HOORAE.
The deal includes the final season of Insecure, along with the second season of A Black Lady Sketch Show, which debuted in late April.

Her company HOORAE is also developing an untitled HBO Max scripted series with Mark Phillips.
