The radio host has mocked the continued delays to the lifting of the coronavirus lockdown with fears the next stage of the easing could be delayed by months. Concerns over the new Indian variant and other virus mutations have Boris Johnson’s government considering cancelling stage four of their exit roadmap on June 21. In response to the threat of another delay in the easing of restrictions, Mr Ferrari launched into a fiery rant on air on Friday.
Mr Ferrari told LBC listeners: “How bloody dare they!
“You could not run a business like this you honestly couldn’t.”
He went on to image exchange between a customer and a delivery firm that tried to operate with similar delays.
“You know that order you put in we are going to get it to you for November, oh great thank you,” mused Ferrari.
“Hi, got a few problems you’ll get it by Christmas, oh right. Hi look a few problems in factory and the warehouse the van is broken down.
Continuing the imaginary exchange the presenter said: “Can we get it to you by Easter? Not only is the van down the driver is not feeling very well.
“So could we come for you in the summer?
“No no you can’t, I will go elsewhere that is the reality.”
“SAGE and Public Health England both say it is a more transmissible variant we know it has some level of vaccine escape.
“So we are in a situation where, compared to two months ago, we now have a dominant variant that both transmit faster and vaccines are less effective against particularly after one dose and although we have really really could one dose coverage we don’t have really really good two-dose coverage.
“I think the fourth test of is there a new variant of concern that changes the risk profile is not met.”
She added: “If we can just delay step four of the roadmap until we have a much higher proportion of people vaccinated with two doses we are in a much much better position. “
