Chief Medical Officer Professor Chris Whitty was seen being harassed by two men in a video that has now begun circulating social media. The two men are seen grabbing Professor Whitty as he attempts to pull away and escape. At one point in the video, one of the men appears to try to put him in a headlock.
The incident took place in St James Park in London and the pair continued to follow the Chief Medical officer when he walked away from them.
The two men continued to laugh and smile at the camera while asking for a photo and pulling on Professor Whitty.
The video has been widely condemned with viewers dubbing it “disgusting” and calling for a wider investigation into the two individuals.
Tory MP and Schools Minister Nick Gibb discussed the video while speaking on Sky News with Kay Burley this morning.
He said: “I think this scene is absolutely appalling and I am sure all of your viewers and the public will condemn this behaviour.
