Hilary Duff beams on Brooklyn Bridge in first-look cast pic for How I Met Your Father

Hilary Duff glowed in a first-look cast picture that surfaced this Thursday for the new How I Met Your Mother spin-off.

Entitled How I Met Your Father, the Hulu show will have the same framing device as the original series – children being told about the way their parents got together.

Within that framing device the bulk of the show will be told through flashbacks where the leading lady will be played by Hilary, 34.

The new first-look picture shows Hilary’s character with her co-stars Suraj Sharma, Francia Raisa, Tom Ainsley, Tien Tran and Chris Lowell.

All of them will be starring as a group of friends living in New York – signified by the first-look picture which shows the cast on a set of Brooklyn Bridge.

While the flashbacks will be set this year, the framing device will feature an older version of Hilary’s character played by Kim Cattrall, Deadline revealed last week.

Kim, 65, has famously declined to be a part of the upcoming spin-off of the show that made her a global star, Sex And The City.

Her decision not to join the Sex And The City reboot came after years of reports alleging she had a strained relationship with her co-stars.

Over the years Kim herself has taken multiple public jabs at Sarah Jessica Parker who fronted the series as sex columnist Carrie Bradshaw.

How I Met Your Mother was a smash hit network sitcom that ran for nine seasons on CBS before airing its finale in 2014.

On that show Bob Saget played the older version of the leading man Ted Mosby, whose younger version was portrayed by Josh Radnor.

Other members of the main cast included Cobie Smulders, Jason Segel, Neil Patrick Harris, Cristin Milioti and Alyson Hannigan.

Hilary at one point was going to star in a revival of her own Disney Channel sitcom Lizzie McGuire, the show that shot her to fame.

Shooting had even begun on the reboot before the coronavirus lockdowns swept the country but that project has now died on the vine.

Showrunner Terri Minsky was fired last January and then in December Hilary announced that the show had been canceled entirely.

The month after Terri was fired Hilary hinted at some of the creative issues behind the scenes by writing on Instagram: ‘I’d be doing a disservice to everyone by limiting the realities of a 30 year old’s journey to live under the ceiling of a PG rating.’
