Temperatures could nudge up towards a tropical 32C (90F) this weekend after a sizzling blast from across the Atlantic, according to forecasters. The sudden heatwave will be driven by a weather pattern known as an ‘Azores High’, also known as a ‘Bermuda High’, and is expected to provide mid to high 20C consistently over the next few days. The baking heat will be a welcome change for many miserable Brits as the capital reels from devastating flooding after heavy rain earlier this week.
“Get ready for the Bermuda blowtorch” said Exacta Weather forecaster James Madden.
“Temperatures will rise significantly at the weekend, particularly across southern Britain”, he added.
Crowds of sun-deprived Brits have already flocked to beaches and beauty spots to make the most of the sunny weekend ahead.
The Met Office has urged people to stay safe and take care as the temperatures begin to soar.
The current hottest day of the year was recorded June 14 when temperatures reached a balmy 28.4C in London.
Forecasters suggest Saturday, Sunday or Monday will likely knock June 14 from its throne to claim the hottest day of the year so far.

The Met Office is predicting the high temperatures will remain until Wednesday, July 21, after which the heatwave is expected to ease.
Sun-lovers should revel in the tropical temperatures while it lasts as a thundery eruption could strike in the wake of the Bermuda High.
