A bitter dad has been urinating and defecating on his ex-wife’s grave 48 years after they divorced. Linda Louise Torello died of cancer in 2017 aged 66 and is buried at a cemetery at Tappan Reformed Church in Orangetown, New York.
Family members used secret cameras to find the person who they claim is responsible for defecating and urinating on the grave. They have said they were shocked to discover it was her ex-husband.
According to Ms Torello’s family, faeces and urine had been deposited at the headstone almost every morning.
Ms Torello’s son, Michael Murphy, 43, posted an incriminating video of a man getting out of his car, walking up to the headstone and weeing on it in what was described as a normal routine.
The family identified the man as Ms Torello’s ex-husband, who she divorced in 1974 and had not been in touch with since 1976.
The incriminating video shared on Facebook was reportedly taken on September 18.
Mr Murphy claimed he had evidence of the man going to the cemetry for four days in a row.
Local police were contacted, but have not brought any charges.
Mr Murphy said he is hoping to take the complaint to court.
New York State law says desecrating a cemetery is only a crime if the damages are in excess of £230 ($250).
Mr Murphy told Daily Voice he believes he has surpassed the threshold after paying a hazmat company to remove all her urine soaked decorations, to get the headstone properly cleaned and grass replaced as well as the cost of permits to let these companies enter the cemetery.
