Newcastle United have been flooded with transfer rumours in the last few days following their takeover on Thursday. Their £305million takeover has sparked considerable interest with players from all over the globe being linked with a move to Tyneside. But with players coming in, there will be players who pay the price in terms of their squad status at St James Park. Express Sport takes a look at the potential casualties.

    Joelinton

Joelinton is still by far Newcastle’s most expensive signing at £40million, but he certainly hasn’t represented value for money since his move from Hoffenheim two seasons ago.

The Brazilian has only scored six goals in 76 Premier League games in a nightmare spell on Tyneside.

Callum Wilson was signed to be an improvement on the former Bundesliga talisman, although Joelinton has been preferred this season.

And with the new owners looking for goals to propel the Magpies up the Premier League table, it is likely that he will be replaced.

    Miguel Almiron

Almiron has been one of Newcastle’s best players this season, starting all seven of their Premier League games.

But again, with the owners looking to replenish the majority of Newcastle’s attacking force, he could be spared for one of reported targets Jesse Lingard or Philippe Coutinho.

He could still feature sporadically, but his starting spot will likely be stripped.

    Federico Fernandez

James Tarkowski has been linked with a move to the north east, and this could see Federico Fernandez ousted from the side.

Despite starting five games this season, the new Saudi owners are reportedly looking to make Tarkowski their first signing as a statement of intent.

And if the Burnley man does sign, it is likely Ciaran Clark and Jamaal Lascelles will be the favoured men to partner him.
