Express Sport picks out four starlets who could benefit from the gaps in Klopp’s squad.

    Fabio Carvalho

Summer signing Fabio Carvalho has enjoyed a positive start to life at Anfield and could be in line for more action. The former Fulham attacker has already scored twice for Liverpool – in wins over Newcastle and Bournemouth.

The 20-year-old can play either side of attack or in midfield. His versatility means he could be set for more game time given the injuries his team-mates have suffered.

    Oakley Cannonier

There is plenty of excitement at Liverpool around teenage attacker Oakley Cannonier. Despite having failed to make a senior appearance, he can already loosely claim an assist in the Champions League.

That is because Cannonier was the ball-boy whose quick-thinking led to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s clever corner that set up Divock Origi to complete Liverpool’s 4-0 thrashing of Barcelona in 2019. The Reds had trailed 3-0 from the first leg but won at Anfield – setting up an all-English final in which they beat Tottenham.

Cannonier – an England U19 international – already has nine goals in 11 appearances at various levels this season. That is in addition to his 30 goals last term.

That kind of form does not go unnoticed by first team coaches when injuries are at a premium. Cannonnier, who has trained regularly under Klopp, can surely expect to make a matchday squad in the near future.
