On Sunday Turkish authorities declared search and rescue efforts were underway to find missing people. The flooding in the northern provinces of Turkey was in contrast with the wildfires that raged through the southern coastal regions of the nation. In the Kastamonu province of northern Turkey 52 people died.
Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate said another nine people have died in Sinop and one in Bartin.
Reuters released drone footage of the damage in the town of Bozkurt in Kastamonu province caused by the recent flooding.
Emergency workers are now searching the demolished buildings in northern Turkey.
Torrents of water rushed through streets and overturned dozens of cars and left heaps of debris.

“The sewage system is destroyed.
“There is no electricity or water.”
Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has attended the funerals of the first victims of the flooding.
In the flooded city of Kastamonu he led a prayer before a few hundred residents
Speaking to the crowd he said: “We will do whatever we can as a state as quickly as we can, and rise from the ashes.
“We can’t bring back the citizens we lost.
“But our state has the means and power to compensate those who lost loved ones.”
