Elle Fanning plays with quirky tattoo filter as she shares new snap

She’s an in-demand actress who has played a range of characters during her career. 

And Elle Fanning played with a quirky tattoo filter as she shared a new snap getting her hair and makeup done behind the scenes of a mystery project on Tuesday.

The star, 23, had a serious expression on her face as she took the mirror selfie while a man worked on her tresses with a paint brush.

Using the filter, Elle covered her arms and face with various inkings including flowers and a peace sign.

The filter also made it look like she was wearing dark black sunglasses as she sat in the chair being pampered.

For the trip she wore a casual black T-shirt and appeared to be sat in a film trailer as she posed for the picture.

Normal look: The actress, 23, usually sports a clean cut look and has a chic sense of style (pictured last year with no filter)

It comes after she shared an amusing throwback video from behind the scenes of the second film in the Maleficent franchise, Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil, via Instagram last month. 

The actress was in good spirits as she joyously danced to herself without any music playing in the make-up and hair department before filming Aurora’s wedding  

Elle appeared to still be in the midst of preparations for the scene as she was still in her own clothes but was wearing her golden locks in loose curls for the shoot.

She also had a pretty pink flower crown placed on her hair as she busted out some fun dance moves and laughed to herself.

In stark contrast to her hairdo, Elle put on a casual display in her black tank top that showed off her midriff and a pair of grey jogging bottoms. 

Elle enjoyed the video as she wrote in the caption: ‘Love a photo memory popping up. Have no idea what I’m so happy about but it was Aurora’s wedding day!’  

Elle recently starred in Channel 4 show The Great, where she took on the role of the titular character, the notorious Russian monarch Catherine The Great.
