EastEnders fans have seen Janine Butcher (played by Charlie Brooks) come and go several times over the years leaving behind a trail of destruction at every turn. In her latest outing, Janine embarked on a romance with Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) but the actress has confirmed it won’t be long before fans say goodbye to Janine once again.

Charlie will leave at the end of her current contract, 18 months after she returned to Walford to be close to her daughter Scarlett Butcher (Tabitha Byron).

The actress said: “I was only ever due back to EastEnders for a year, but when [executive producer] Chris Clenshaw presented with his idea for the story, I couldn’t say no to staying a little longer.

“I’ve had an amazing time, as I always go when I go back.”

“But as always with Janine, she probably should not outstay her welcome – for everyones’ sake,” she told The Sun on Sunday.
