Just Stop Oil has enraged drivers this morning by blocking a London road, as they continue their campaign across the capital. Activists have halted rush hour traffic on the A4 at Barons Court London Underground station. The movement said 30 supporters have caused traffic to back up from around 7.30am this morning.

The activists have lined the roads armed with banners and clad in orange visibility jackets, using a mixture of methods to anchor themselves in place.

Some have glued themselves to the tarmac, while others have “locked on” to create a human chain.

The group has demanded that the Government “halts all new oil and gas licences and consents”.

They have caused extensive queues along Talgarth road, a key artery leading into London.

Another, @JasonCo1969 added: “Bang them all up for Xmas.”

And @Choffspurss said: “Genuine question here guys. Do you think this strategy is actually helping your cause?

“Turning the vast majority of the British public against isn’t helping.

“Sitting in the middle of the road and ruining paintings really isn’t having the effect you think it is.”

    DON’T MISS

“Yet the Government is planning to grant over 100 new fossil-fuel licences. If the government doesn’t stop new oil, we will.”

Another activist, 49-year-old student and mum of two Kim Wainwright, warned that, without action, the world would become “unlivable”.

She said: “On the current course our world will become unliveable in a very short time.

“Time has run out, drastic measures are called for. My children are 21 and 18, and I am taking non-violent direct action to give them a future.”

“While I have the ability to do so, it’s my moral obligation to make a stand, even if it means multiple arrests and the chance of going to prison.

“Whether you agree with Just Stop Oil actions or not, focus on what’s driving people to do it, not what they are doing”
