Margi Kearns had a drying method that consisted only of using one’s radiator, a normal drying rack, and a sheet. She said: “If you have radiators, use a normal maiden and cover it with a sheet over it and tucked around the top of the radiator. Dries quick.”

Angela Kidd agreed. She wrote: “If you cover the heater with a large sheet or cover it keeps the heat in and dries better. I have used mine for 10 years and wouldn’t be without it.”

Michelle Palmer warned against using an electric airer. She commented: “Don’t waste your money. I’ve got one £149.99. Plugged it in, put clothes on, it dried three quarters. Had to move them about all the time. Normal airer near your radiator works better!”

Pamela Hill added: “Personally, I wouldn’t recommend one, I have the £179 one (which I think has since increased in price), with the cover and it’s cr**.”
