Michelle Williams has spoken out in support of Britney Spears after she asked an LA court to have her conservatorship revoked.

Appearing on The Morning Show on Thursday, the 41-year-old Destiny’s Child singer was asked about the pop star’s stunning statements regarding her conservatorship.

‘I didn’t know the depth or the magnitude to what Britney has been facing and what she has been going through, so my heart truly goes out to her,’ began Michelle.

‘Britney was truly a favourite of mine. She was always so sweet whenever we would run into her when we were out on the road.’

She added: ‘Such a sweet smile and a true gift to the world, and I hope we’re able to see more of her.’

Appearing before a court in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Britney, 39, asked a judge to end her conservatorship, which has been in place since 2008.

In an emotional plea, the Toxic singer condemned the conservatorship, which has seen her father, Jamie, control her life and finances.

‘This conservatorship is doing me way more harm than good. I deserve to have a life,’ she said, as stated in documents obtained by The New York Times.

‘I feel ganged up on. I feel bullied and I feel left out and alone… In California, the only similar thing to this is called sex trafficking, making anyone work against their will, taking all their possessions away, credit card, cash, phone, passport.’

Britney branded the conservatorship ‘abusive’ and said she feels like she’s been living ‘in a rehab program’.

One of the most sensational revelations from the hearing was that she’s had a birth control device implanted in her body that she’s not allowed to remove.

‘I want to have the “real deal”, I want to get married and have a baby. I was told in the conservatorship I’m not allowed to get married or have a baby,’ she added.
