Dave Hughes spotted scrolling on his phone in a park during Melbourne lockdown without a mask on – but he says he was exercising

Dave Hughes was spotted at Peanut Farm Reserve in St Kilda, strolling with his face mask off as he scrolled through his phone, on Monday afternoon.

The comedian, 50, appeared to be distracted by the device in his hand as he walked around the grounds, face uncovered, with his children nearby.

But a spokesperson for Hughes says that the star had been exercising in the popular Melbourne athletic park – and therefore did not need to have his mask on.

The spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia: ‘Dave was exercising and often plays basketball with his children in the park and under Victoria’s mask rules, you do not need to wear a face mask when exercising.’

According to the Victorian Government’s advice on mask wearing outdoors, ‘You do not need to wear a face mask when exercising if you are out of breath or puffing.

‘You must carry a face mask with you at all times unless you have a lawful reason not to,’ the site reads.

Dave was dressed casually in a blue button down shirt and black jeans, along with a pair of jogging shoes.

Around the time he was seen at the park, the radio star fired off a Tweet about the lockdowns.

‘Will PM ever wake up and realise Premiers have dismantled the Federation?’ he wrote.
