Cristiano Ronaldo will finally wear his famous No 7 shirt at Old Trafford – after the Red Devils were granted special dispensation by the Premier League to move Edinson Cavani to No 21 and accomodate their superstar.
Ronaldo, 36, joined Manchester United for his second spell at Old Trafford after he spent six years there at the start of his career.
Having joined from Sporting Lisbon in 2003 for £12million, Ronaldo developed immensely under the control of Sir Alex Ferguson; winning various accolades along the way.
Winning three Premier League titles, three FA Cup winner’s medals, a Champions League and the Ballon d’Or, the Madeira-born talent became the best player in the world for many; sparking interest from across Europe for his signature.
And it was these performances in the famous No 7 shirt that made him become a United icon – as he followed in the footsteps of previous superstars Eric Cantona, David Beckham and George Best.
