And on Wednesday, Cody Simpson and Ian Thorpe were all smiles as they posed together ahead of the documentary’s premiere.

Cody’s mother Angie shared a photo to Instagram of the singer, 24, and Olympic legend, 38, smiling while lounging poolside.

In the photo, Cody looked stylish in black jeans, a matching coloured T-shirt and a pair of beige boots.

Ian also went for a similar approach, wearing jeans, a black T-shirt and sneakers.

Meanwhile, the new docuseries will follow competitive swimmers Cody, Ian, Bronte Campbell and Kyle Chalmers.

In a new trailer for the documentary, Cody offered a rare look into his journey from the stage to the pool.

‘I have no delusions about how difficult it was going to be,’ Cody is heard saying in the sneak peek, before acknowledging that public opinion about his swimming journey was always bound to be cynical.

‘The big-headed musician that thinks he can make an Olympic team,’ he continued.

We then see someone who appears to be a coach or manager saying, ‘we don’t know his (Cody’s) limits,’ before the singer is seen vomiting spectacularly next to the pool.

Cody announced his return to swimming on Instagram in December, after giving up the sport to pursue a singing career in Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, Ian retired from his swimming career at the age of 24 after breaking 22 world records and winning an abundance of medals.
