Chris Hemsworth arrives in Sydney after he made it onto the Queen's Birthday honours list

    Chris Hemsworth had a spring in his step when he disembarked an early morning flight into Sydney on Monday.

    The 37-year-old Thor star was spotted stepping off a private jet the morning after it was announced he’d made the Queen’s Birthday honours list.

    Chris was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his contribution to the performing arts and ongoing charity work.

    The Hollywood heartthrob is a patron for the Australian Childhood Foundation and donated $1million to the 2019 bushfire appeal.

    In addition to his stellar acting career, he also supports a variety of wildlife conservation charities among others.  

    Other big names on the list of 1,190 Australians issued on Sunday night included outspoken political commentator Peta Credlin, former rugby league star Glenn Lazarus and TV presenter Angela Bishop.

    Governor-General David Hurley congratulated the ‘unique’ recipients and said ‘their story deserves to be shared widely and celebrated’.

    ‘Collectively, they speak to who we are as a nation. There are countless examples of selflessness, commitment and dedication. There is diversity and there are examples of exceptional achievement in almost every field imaginable,’ he said.

    He added: ‘To the individuals being recognised today… thank you for your service and congratulations on being recognised by your peers and your nation.’
