Boehly has made several key appointments to the club’s recruitment team – with former Manchester City talent spotter Joe Shields joining on Thursday following a short stint at Southampton. Laurence Stewart, formerly of Monaco, has been appointed as technical director.
Chelsea continue to be linked with a move for Manchester United veteran Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portugal captain has been used predominantly as a substitute by Erik ten Hag, and Boehly had previously attempted to convince former head coach Tuchel to sign the ex-Real Madrid superstar.
However, new boss Potter remained coy when asked about Chelsea’s reported interest in Ronaldo. He told journalists last week: “We can spend all day with these questions, but I’m not going to speak about this. If they are not our players, I am not going to speak about them.”
