The Palace said that the historic ceremony will take place on Saturday May 6 at Westminster Abbey. Avid royal fans will note that the event will be taking place on the fourth birthday of Archie, the son of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and Charles’ grandson.
Though Charles became Monarch when the late Queen died, the Coronation will be the symbolic celebration of his reign.
The King will be 74 years old at the time of his coronation which makes him the oldest that a monarch has been crowned.
Since the announcement, MPs have called to move the May bank holiday to May 8, currently taking place on May 1.
The week delay would give the nation a longer weekend to sufficiently mark the event and will make it “a very special memory”.
Ex-Cabinet minister David Jones said: “To combine the two events would be welcomed by the entire nation.”
Mr Jones added: “It would make a very special memory for all of us.”
According to reports, royal aides are working towards a slimmed-down ceremony as the country battles the cost-of-living crisis and Charles attempts to alter the image of the Royal Family.
Despite the reduced pageantry, the occasion will still be an apt celebration for the Monarch and the nation.

Meanwhile, others, including Tory MP Michael Fabricant are calling for an extra holiday, he said: “While it would make logical sense to move the bank holiday back a week, why not have two holidays?
“Our regular one and a special one to celebrate the Coronation of our King?”
The date for the event was chosen with the Government, the Royal Household and the Church of England following an examination of sports matches, international events and anniversaries.
A source from Downing Street said that “no decisions have been taken” over delaying the holiday, which is a decision for the Government, not the Palace.
