British gardening expert Carol Klein, who also regularly appears on BBC Gardeners’ World, has shared more of her tips for gardening in autumn. In the fourth instalment of her new five-part series on Channel 5 – Autumn Gardening with Carol Klein – the garden pro shared how to dry beans, “sow them again” and re-plant them next spring. Carol films the programme from her Glebe Cottage garden in Devon where she has been honing her horticultural skills for 40 years.

“You can feel those beans right along the length [of the pod].

“I will dry these off – there’s a few here too that are drier still – and then I will pod them, take out those beans, store them and when they’re perfectly dry in a cool and shady place, next spring I will sow them again.

“And the whole cycle will start once more.”

This week, Carol also retreated to her shed due to heavy showers.

Whether you’re an amateur gardener or a professional, Carol’s tips can easily be utilised by everyone.

Carol’s advice can also be used across all garden types – from large country gardens to small balconies in the heart of the city.

Last week, Carol shared her simple method for planting garlic.

Autumn Gardening with Carol Klein airs tonight on Channel 5 at 7pm
