Carla Bruni wows in a strapless black gown as she takes to the red carpet for Peaceful screening

Carla Bruni put on a dazzling display on Saturday evening as the fifth day of the Cannes Film Festival got underway.

The Italian-French model wowed in a strapless black gown as she attended the De Son Vivant (Peaceful) screening, turning heads in the elegant number.

Carla, 53, accessorised with a silver collar necklace and only when a shot from behind could her black high heels be spotted.

The star also showcased her fun tribute to the Italian flag by sporting nails matching its famous red, white and green colours. 

This fashion statement is ahead of the Euros final on Sunday evening, where England take on Italy. 

Carla, who was born in Turin, was not afraid to show support for her nation as she flashed her colourful nails at any opportunity. 

She opted for a nude pink lipstick, also keeping the rest of her makeup natural and radiant.

Peaceful, also known as De Son Vivant in French, is directed by Emmanuelle Bercot, and stars Catherine Deneuve, Cécile de France, and Benoît Magimel in the leading roles.

The film follows three characters, a son (Magimel) who is diagnosed with cancer, his mother (Deneuve) and her struggle with being unable to help him, and the nurse (de France) trying to do her job. 

Peaceful marks the third time that director Bercot has worked with Deneuve and Magimel on a production.
