The Queen Consort is said to have made a particular effort to support both Meghan Markle and Kate, Princess of Wales when they married into the Royal Family. During her relationship with Prince Charles, Camilla reportedly experienced a “terrible time” when trying to get to grips with royal protocol and the fresh expectations attached to her royal position. Despite the Queen Consort’s efforts, royal expert Angela Levin has suggested the Duchess of Sussex “wasn’t interested” in learning the expectations of the Royal Family during her time as a working member.

Speaking on The Mail’s Palace Confidential, Ms Levin said: “She tried very hard with Meghan, to please her – she had done this with Katherine too.

“Because she had such a terrible time when she joined the Royal Family, she tried to tell them where the holes could be and the protocols that sound ridiculous but they need to follow.

“[It was] to give them an understanding of a very different life.

“Katherine was very grateful and Meghan wasn’t interested really.”

Meghan Markle officially became a member of the British Royal Family following her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018.

Less than two years later, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced they would step back as senior royals and shortly thereafter relocated to live in America.

Since the announcement, the couple have been at the centre of an apparent feud with the Royal Family following a series of controversial media exchanges in which the pair alleged they were “let down” by the firm.

The couple have since continued to fuel tensions by threatening to release further revelations about their stint at the forefront of royal life. Meghan told New York magazine The Cut, she had never signed anything that prevented her revealing her “whole experience” in the Royal Family.
