King Charles still considers Prince Harry ‘family’ says Koenig

Camilla found Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s attacks against the Firm “very upsetting,” it has been claimed. Royal biographer Angela Levin reported in her new book focused on the Queen Consort that Camilla has been steadily by King Charles III’s side amid the turmoil created by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s decision to leave the Firm as its working members and their following public statements.

Nevertheless, an unnamed source claimed the Queen Consort herself has been hurt by the Sussexes’ behaviour.

In her newly-released book, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall: From Outcast to Future Queen Consort, the author quoted a source as saying: “Camilla has been strongly supportive of Prince Charles.

“What has happened and how [Harry] has behaved has been very upsetting for her.

“There have been a lot of hurt feelings all round, but like all families, you have to embrace it all and hope it will improve”.

The author herself described Camilla as “rather shocked” by Meghan and Harry’s exit and following declarations.

She wrote: “An upset, rather shocked Camilla has helped Charles deal with the problems Harry and Meghan have caused.”

Meghan and Prince Harry stepped down as full-time working members of the Firm in the spring of 2020.

Three months prior, they had sent shockwaves through the country and the Royal Family as they released a bombshell statement in which they announced their intention to reshape their roles within the institution.

Their plan would have seen Meghan and Harry becoming financially independent from taxpayers, in a bid to diminish the public scrutiny and interest in their lives.

They also said they wanted to live between North America and the UK, launch their new foundation and continue to carry out royal duties and represent the Crown on tours and visits.

A few days later, however, Harry accepted harsher exit terms during a meeting in Norfolk with Queen Elizabeth II, Prince William and then Prince Charles among other attendees.

As a consequence of their exit from the Firm, Meghan and Harry can live abroad but had to relinquish their military and royal patronages, stop carrying out royal duties and no longer use their HRH styling in official capacity.

Almost one year after what became known as “Megxit”, Meghan and Prince Harry sat down for a groundbreaking interview with US chat show queen Oprah Winfrey.

Camilla was not mentioned during this sit-down, with the Duke being asked specifically about his relationship with the Queen, Prince William and Charles.

While both Meghan and Harry stressed their bond with the late monarch had not weakened following their exit from the Firm and continued to be regularly in touch with her despite now living in California, the Duke hit out at his father.

After claiming Charles had stopped taking his calls in late 2019, while he was trying to outline his plans for a different role within the Firm, and just asked him to put his departure plan in writing, Harry said his father was once again communicating with him over the phone.

However, he added: “There’s a lot to work through there, you know? I feel really let down, because he’s been through something similar.

“He knows what pain feels like, and Archie’s his grandson.

“But, at the same time, you know, I, of course, I will always love him, but there’s a lot of hurt that’s happened.

“And I will continue to make it one of my priorities to try and heal that relationship.”

Two months after the broadcast of this interview, Harry appeared in an episode of the Armchair Expert podcast aired in May.

There, he opened up on his mental health and how decided to try therapy as well as how difficult he found in his 20s to take on the royal job, saying he had “seen the business model” and didn’t want to be a part of it.

Moreover, Harry said he had been passed on “some form of pain” which perhaps his own father had suffered.

He said: “I don’t think we should be pointing the finger or blaming anybody, but certainly when it comes to parenting, if I’ve experienced some form of pain or suffering because of the pain or suffering that perhaps my father or my parents had suffered, I’m going to make sure I break that cycle so that I don’t pass it on, basically.”
