‘I am a sucker for punishment’: Brooke Boney reveals the WORST thing about working for Channel Nine’s Today show
The Today show’s entertainment reporter Brooke Boney has revealed the less-than-glamorous side of her plum TV gig.
Speaking to Mediaweek, the 34-year-old admitted she still struggles to wake up early for Today’s call time, despite having previously worked in breakfast radio.
‘I am a sucker for punishment. I don’t know how I ended up being someone who does all these breakfast shows when I am naturally a night owl who loves my sleep-ins,’ she said.

Brooke said she’s managed to deal with the unpleasant morning alarm by going to bed at the same time every night.
‘It is not easy and it is not fun setting your alarm for that time but you just do it,’ she added, noting that the first ten minutes of her day ‘absolutely sucks’.
Once she arrives on set, however, Brooke said she’s able to snap into her peppy TV persona immediately.

Brooke told Mamamia in May her early work ours had taken a toll on her physical and mental health in 2020, and that she was now trying to live a more balanced lifestyle.
‘The year before I was eating terribly, and I wasn’t looking after myself properly and I actually put on a lot of weight,’ she said.
‘I just started eating really healthy and just getting into heaps of veggies and not drinking as much.’

Brooke also said she was getting more sleep and embracing a more active lifestyle.
‘It’s not about what size or what shape you are – it’s all about feeling good in your body,’ she explained.
Brooke joined the Today show in January 2019, replacing outgoing entertainment presenter Richard Wilkins.

At the time, Brooke told 9Honey she was proud to represent diverse Australians in the television industry.
‘For young Aboriginal people, or people from the country, or people from really working class families to be able to see themselves reflected as part of our TV landscape, I think it’s a really special thing,’ she said.
