The Northern Irishman is keen to remain at Leicester but understands that he might have achieved all he realistically could, according to the Daily Star.
Rodgers incredibly helped the Foxes win the FA Cup last term and has recorded back-to-back Europa League qualification.
It is a slight diversion on his latest public position on his job. Rodgers insisted that he was completely happy at Leicester and was not considering a move.
“I don’t even think about it – and that’s the brutal honesty. I’m sure the supporters are probably tired of it. At Leicester, there is always a link,” he said in October.
“My focus is always here with Leicester and developing the football club on to that next level, where you’re competing for European football and challenging for honours.
He added: “We’ve got to get back to what we started to look like.
“We started to look like a proper team early on this season, and we need to get back to that. We’ve been through this a few times.
“Since the last game we played here, it has been a very difficult period. We’ve gone away from what we used to be.
“We went to Tottenham and won 3-0 with a different system and then got a good result against Atalanta, but we need to be on the front foot more.
“I can’t look at myself and say ‘this is the way I want Man United to play’.
“It is very disappointing, and it feels like after last week we have made a step or two forward results-wise and then a big step backwards.”
