Boris Johnson reminded the SNP politician Scottish independence remains off the table as a referendum on the matter had already been held. Ian Blackford repeatedly attacked Brexit Britain’s efforts to strike a new trade agreement with Australia, warning of potentially damaging consequences for Scotland. But the Prime Minister ridiculed the claims as he accused Mr Blackford of being “out of his mind” for supporting plans to take the nation back into the European Union should independence be gained.

Blackford said: “In the Tories’ desperation to get a post-Brexit trade deal with somebody, with anybody, they’ve given the farm away – literally!

“It is blindingly obvious who the winners and who are the loosers in this deal.

“Australia’s economy will benefit to the tune of 1.3 billion dollars a year.

“Mr Speraker you would need 200 Australian deals to come close to mitigating the cost of Brexit, we were told Brexit was all about taking back control, but for our farmers and for our crofters there has been no scrutiny, there has been no consultation and there has been no consent.

Boris Johnson hit back: “Mr Speaker the people of this country voted for this government to get on and deliver free trade deals around the world, I believe they were totally right.

“He talks about tripe Mr Speaker, Well I can tell him when it comes to the exporting the intestines of sheep which I know is a valuable part of Scottish tradition, even that is even being opened up around the world!

“If he is saying he wants to go back into the EU, hand back control of our fisheries, hand back control of our agriculture to Brussels, lose all the opportunities this country has gaines.

“I think he is frankly out of his mind and going in totally the wrong direction! If he means another referendum Mr Speaker – we’ve already had one of those!”
