    Bert Newton’s widow Patti puts on a brave face as she leaves daughter’s home ahead of the TV legend’s funeral


    Patti Newton will attend the funeral of her husband Bert on Friday. 

    And on Tuesday, the widow put on a brave face as she left her daughter Lauren Newton’s Melbourne home. 

    The 76-year-old managed a weak smile for onlookers as she stepped into her car to leave.

    Patti was dressed in a sombre black outfit including skinny jeans and heeled brown boots. 

    She paired it with a loose, dark top and a textured jacket, while carrying a Louis Vuitton bag.    

    The showbiz legend added a watch to her outfit, and had on earrings and opted for a rosy makeup palette.

    Bert Newton will be laid to rest at Melbourne’s St Patrick’s Cathedral on Friday. 

    The Herald Sun reported on Friday that the family will hold a 10am service on Friday, November 12.

    The attendance list will be capped at 500 fully vaccinated guests, consisting of family, friends and colleagues.

    The funeral will stream live at Federation Square and via the Victorian Government website. 

    It will also air live on Channel 10, as well as Channel 9, The Herald Sun reports.    

    Channel 10’s broadcast will feature a tribute to the Logie-winning entertainer beforehand in a special edition of Studio 10.

    Bert died in palliative care at a Melbourne hospital on Saturday at the age of 83.

    The TV legend had a well publicised battle with illness over recent months. 

    His state funeral next Friday will have the entire Newton family in attendance with the exception of son Matthew. 

    Matthew, who currently resides in New York, will have a personal message read out at his father’s funeral instead.
