Beauty and the Geek's Sam and Aira are eliminated from the show

One of the fan favourite teams from Beauty and the Geek has been eliminated.

Sam and Aira were sent packing on Monday after losing a challenge, which led to their elimination.

An emotional Sam said that ‘the whole experience had been’, but admitting: ‘I didn’t see myself getting this far.’

He also credited secretary Aira for helping him become more confident throughout the series. 

‘I’ve come out of my shell, Aira has taught me to be really confident and just be yourself. It’s been great,’ he said.

Aira was just as complimentary, calling Sam a ‘friend for life’.

‘I’m so happy I came into this experience,’ Aira said in a confessional after her exit.

‘It’s been life changing and so amazing. You get a new perspective on so many different people and see how unique they are. The Geeks are so lovely. Now I have 10 new Geek friends and I love them so much.’

The pair’s exit comes just days after Sam had a dramatic makeover on the show.

The 23-year-old grocery worker from Victoria said goodbye to his old hairstyle and daggy style, after winning the prenatal group challenge with Aira, 23.

After impressing his co-stars and host Sophie Monk, Sam admitted that he’s ‘definitely not used’ to being called ‘good looking’ as he’s always been ‘a shy person’.

Sam, who previously wore slogan T-shirts, jeans, oversized vinyl jackets and reading glasses, showed off his new clean-cut look, including much shorter red tresses.

He cut a cool and casual figure in a crisp green button-up shirt, slim-fit pants, sneakers and a fitted denim jacket.

Upon greeting Sam for the first time following his transformation, a pleased Aira said: ‘We both worked really hard together and you deserve it. I’m so proud of you. I just can’t wait until you see yourself in the mirror so you can just be so confident.’

Prior to seeing his transformation in the mirror, Sam said: ‘I don’t know what to say. I’ve always been a sort of a shy person.

‘I’m definitely not used to having anyone saying, “Oh my God. Look at you, you’re so good looking”. Especially girls, but it felt good and I was lost for words.’
