BBC Breakfast weather presenter Carol Kirkwood said Britons will bake in sweltering 24C sunshine this Bank Holiday as the UK is due some of its hottest days of the year. London will see top temperatures 24 degrees while the rest of the country is expected to linger in the twenties. Warm nights for most as we head into Tuesday which will bring a scorching 25C for Liverpool, making it the hottest day of 2021. Temperatures will remain high, sunny and dry throughout the rest of the week.

Ms Kirkwood told viewers the Bank Holiday Monday will see “light southerly breezes” but as we go through the day all the clouds that we currently have across central and eastern England will “burn back towards the North Sea coastline.”

She added: “Inland through the course of the day we will see a bit more fair weather cloud develop.

“Turning the sunshine hazy at times but no more than that.”

But she warned UV levels are very high in the south over the Bank Holiday.
