Jack Grealish’s move from Aston Villa to Manchester City understandably upset a portion of the Villa support. However, after being on the receiving end of an article questioning his relationship with the Villans, the England international has hit out at an account over his departure that he labelled “one-sided”.

Grealish, 25, joined up with Pep Guardiola’s men for a British-record transfer fee of £100million in early August, and has hit the ground running at the Etihad Stadium with one goal and an assist in his first three matches.

A key player for England at Euro 2020 following some stellar performances at Villa Park last season, Grealish became hot property across Europe.

But with a £100m release clause, there were only a handful of clubs able to pay that price – City being one of them.

A boyhood Villa fan, he had to make the tough choice between staying at the club he loves and becoming a legend, or winning major trophies.

With his stock never higher, Grealish chose the latter – something he will likely live to relish.

“Classless? Jealous? Couldn’t wait to get out? Arrogance? How exactly?

“I’ve been a Villa fan my whole life and still am. The thing is you don’t understand what goes on in the real football world.

Grealish had angered the Villa supporters by saying: “You just pick up stuff from certain players. Everyone’s an international at a top, top country. It makes you up your standards.”

But, as much as they love or loved their former hero, there is no denying that he has more of a chance to win the Champions League and Premier League at City, than Villa.

The England international lools to continue his strong start to the season when City take on Leicester next weekend.
