Former MEP and vocal Eurosceptic Nigel Farage has predicted the EU will collapse within a decade as Europeans looked to imitate Britain’s exit from the bloc. The UK completed its departure from the EU on December 31, 2020 following 47 years of membership, with Prime Minister Boris Johnson celebrating Britain’s new-found sovereignty and insisting the country will thrive outside the bloc. Six months on, former Brexit Party leader Mr Farage has hailed the success of Brexit and claimed many in Europe are looking on in jealousy at the UK’s exit from the bloc.
He told Fox Business: “We are out, we are free, the deal may not be perfect but it’s a lot better than it was before.
“There is now a 70 percent approval rating for Brexit now. And the rest of Europe is looking at that too!
“Now they see Britain is doing well with Brexit, the overall European project itself, I don’t believe this globalist project will even exist in ten years time.”
OLBG.com, an online betting guide that rates 74 UK bookmakers, showed Italy were the favourites to be the next country to leave the EU with Betfair having odds of 3/1 on the country quitting.
Now in our latest poll, Express.co.uk have thrown their support behind the growing “Italexit” movement.
The poll, which ran from 1pm on Tuesday, June 1 until 7am on Wednesday, asked: “Which country will be next to leave the Brussels bloc?”
Nearly a fifth (19 percent or 1,107 readers) from the total of 6,126 readers who voted backed Italy to quickly follow the UK out of the EU.
The Netherlands followed in second with 16 percent (922 readers), with Sweden on 13 percent (751 readers) and France on 12 percent (701 readers).

A second reader wrote: “If any of these member countries had any sense, they would all leave at the same time.”
Another person commented: “The EU will collapse completely in a couple of years anyway.”
A fourth reader added: “There aren’t many net contributors left to the EU.
“The only reason they are annoyed about the UK leaving is the loss of funding from ‘Treasure Island’.”
Several others toasted Brexit Britain’s success following the departure from the EU, with one person writing: “Freedom from the insane EU never ending red tape, rules, regulations.
“Back to Common Sense and our own Destiny. Onward and Upward UK.”
The latest predictions come after Spanish MEP Hermann Tertsch claimed Euroscepticism is steadily rising among EU states, warning if officials don’t change their approach to ramp up integration, “we will have more exits”.
He told Express.co.uk: “The lefties in the EU are in a hurry because they know Europe is changing.
“If you see the attitude of the Dutch, Austrians and Finnish, they are slowly but surely adopting a position inside the European Union that is very similar to the position the UK has had in the last 10 years before they quit.
“If things don’t change, if the majority doesn’t get a little bit of sense for the real feelings of the people in Europe, I think we will have more exits and not very far in time.”
