Anna Paquin and Teagan Croft film scenes for Netflix's Jessica Watson biopic True Spirit

Filming is well and truly under way on Netflix’s Jessica Watson biopic True Spirit.

On Wednesday, Anna Paquin and co-star Teagan Croft were spotted shooting scenes on the Gold Coast.

The New Zealand-Canadian actress, 39, dressed in blue jeans, a white T-shirt and a tie-dye jacket as she filmed scenes on a wharf.

Anna will play Julie, the mother of the teen sailor, in the film based on her 2010 solo sailing triumph.

Meanwhile, Teagan, 17, wore blue jeans and a grey jacket as she joined Anna on set.

The Australian actress, who has been cast as Watson, was seen standing on a small boat as a cast member assisted her.

The cast were filming scenes for the biopic aboard a yacht docked in a waterway.

Anna is best known for winning a Golden Globe Award for her starring role in HBO series True Blood.

Meanwhile, New Zealand actor Cliff Curtis will play Jessica’s coach Ben Bryant.

Australian actor Josh Lawson will also join the cast as Jessica’s father Roger.

The film is based on Watson’s memoir True Spirit, which details her 210-day solo sailing trip around the world in 2010.

Watson attempted a solo circumnavigation of the globe at the age of 16.
