Opening the party’s annual conference in Brighton, the deputy leader outlined Labour’s plan for government.
Focusing heavily on improving workers’ rights, Ms Rayner pledge to update employment laws.
But after four years of Labour being accused of attempting to take Britain back to the 1970s under Mr Corbyn’s leadership, Ms Rayner used her speech to unashamedly vow to take the country forward.
She said: “It doesn’t have to be this way.
“The Tories‘ political choices made it this way. Labour will make different choices.
“Not by turning back the clock to a bygone era, but facing the future with workers’ rights fit for the modern world.”
