The shopper shared a photograph on Twitter of a sign hanging above the Special Buys section showing a whopping price reduction on packs of Mr Kipling Mini Sponge Tarts.
The sign said the tarts had been marked down from £7147.03 down to 79p.
The shopper captioned the post: “Absolutely fuming at the sale in Aldi. That is a huge discount, I spent £7000 on those last week.”
The tweet has gone viral with thousands of people in hysterics over the mistake. One shopper laughed: “That is one hell of a saving. Just off out to get some mini sponge tarts.”
Another joked: “That is what happens with prices when you try to use Bitcoin as currency.”

The tweet was posted on Monday but it is unclear when the pricing mishap actually took place.
If you want to get your hands on the bargain mini tarts you can head to your local Aldi store. Unfortunately, Aldi does not offer home delivery, but you can use its store finder to help you find the closest one.
You can also get Aldi groceries delivered on Deliveroo for an extra £4.99 delivery fee, but be aware that the service does not include reduced items.
