Footscray legend Steve Wallis sets a new record in the Essendon housing market as he sells his home for $8.5million
AFL veteran Steve Wallis and his wife Sue have sold their Essendon home for a profitable $8.5million – a new property record for the Victorian suburb.
The couple are moving to St Kilda West after they recently purchased a stunning house there for $11million, according to realestate.com.au.
The Wallis family, which includes son Mitch, who plays for the Western Bulldogs, have lived in the Leslie Road residence for 15 years.

‘It’s an understated home from the street, but once you get inside, it’s like your own private resort,’ said McDonald Upton agent Joe Zucco.
Steve and Sue listed their beloved 1920s-built home with Mr Zucco and sold it in an off-market deal.
They bought the home back in 2006 for $3.1million – significantly less than the $8.5million they eventually sold it for.

Mr Zucco said that the house is located in one of Essendon’s ‘premier streets’ and would be highly sought after, especially when prospective buyers saw the interior.
‘[The vendors] did some renovations, they did a beautiful alfresco area. It’s quite a stunning home,’ the agent added.
The property has five bedrooms, four bathrooms and a tennis court, and sits on a 1,900sqm block.
Mr Zucco secured a sale for the home after only two private inspections.
