Liverpool want to sign at least two more players before the transfer window closes, according to reports. A midfielder and a striker are at the top of Jurgen Klopp’s shopping list, as they look to regain the Premier League title.

They have already signed defender Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig after a defensive injury crisis derailed their campaign last season.

A late revival saw Klopp’s side finish third, despite the German ruling out their Champions League qualification hopes as late as March.

And Goal are reporting that, ideally, Liverpool will sign at least two more players this summer – a midfielder and a forward.

Those signings, however, are dependent on the club’s ability to raise funds through the sale of fringe and loan players.

The midfielders that the Reds are reportedly interested in include Borussia Moenchengladbach’s Florian Neuhaus, Brighton’s Yves Bissouma, Aston Villa’s John McGinn, and Lille’s Renato Sanches.

The report also states that Leicester’s Harvey Barnes is another player who has admirers at Anfield, but would command a fee that would likely be too extortionate for the Reds.

“Yes, I’m very happy with my squad. Very, very happy,” Klopp said about his squad after a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on the final day of last season secured Champions League football.

“Could this squad improve? Yes, like each squad could.

“Is that affordable? I don’t know. Is it necessary? I don’t know. Whatever happens, we will see. I don’t know [about transfers] in this moment, to be honest.

“We have to make decisions in and out on all these kinds of things. It’s normal in the summer.

“There’s a moment in the pre-season when I hope we have the team we will go through the season [with].

“We might not be the best team in the world at the start of the season, but we want to be again the team who nobody wants to play against because we are that good.

    “And I think that’s possible.”
