Zlatan Ibrahimovic has dropped a trailer for his move I Am Zlatan ahead of its release this year. The former Manchester United striker tweeted the clip of the biopic, which charts Ibrahimovic’s rise from childhood to star footballer.

I Am Zlatan’s trailer depicts Ibrahimovic at different ages.

Ibrahimovic does not appear to star in the film and is instead played by two actors who portray him at different stages of his life.

Dominic Bajraktari Andersson plays a fresh-faced Ibrahimovic from the age of 11 to 13. Granit Rushiti portrays a 17 to 23-year-old Ibrahimovic just as he is forging a reputation as one of the most talented forwards in world football.

Ibrahimovic wrote the film alongside his autobiography writers, Jakob Beckman and David Lagercrantz.

The film will likely provide a unique insight into Ibrahimovic’s eccentric character.

He splits opinion among fans by often referring to himself in third person and drawing comparisons between himself and lions.

“I want to be the best,” his character tells someone during the trailer after having his mentality questioned.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that Lucky Red had secured the rights for the film in Italy, where Ibrahimovic has spent the majority of his career.

Andrea Occhipinti of Lucky Red said: “Ibrahimovic is much more than a footballer: he is a pure leader, a legendary icon, a way of being that belongs only to him and that cannot be replicated.

“The story of this myth contemporary that in Italy has found its highest consecration, could only become a great story for cinema.”

Real-life Ibrahimovic began his career with Malmo before moving to Ajax in 2001. His spell with the Dutch side is featured in the trailer, which suggests that the film will be released in September.

The now-39-year-old first moved to Italy in 2004 when he joined Juventus. He then signed for Inter Milan two years later.

A mixed season at Barcelona followed in 2009 before a loan move to AC Milan ended with the switch being made permanent.

He spent the most memorable period of his career with Paris Saint-Germain, scoring 113 goals in 122 Ligue 1 appearances.

Ibrahimovic arrived in England for the first time to join Man Utd, then coached by Jose Mourinho, in 2016.

His first season was prolific, scoring 17 goals in 28 Premier League appearances. But he managed just five appearances in his second campaign and joined LA Galaxy.

The Sweden international – who has scored 62 goals in 118 appearances for his country – has since returned to AC Milan.
