MUSTAFA ALI’S hopes of headlining WrestleMania appear to be over due to injury.
The SmackDown Live superstar was due to compete for the WWE World Title at Elimination Chamber on Sunday.
Champ Daniel Bryan puts the belt on the line against AJ Styles, Randy Orton, Samoa Joe, Jeff Hardy and Ali inside the hellacious structure.
But the 32-year-old has reportedly suffered a concussion.
And that now means he looks unlikely to be medically cleared to do battle for the belt, with the winner set to land a main event slot at the Showcase of the Immortals.
Journalist Dave Meltzer claimed on F4WOnline: “So Mustafa Ali suffered a concussion on the show in Fort Wayne.
“So that’s the deal with Mustafa Ali so in theory unless he gets cleared on Tuesday because it’s a concussion and you never know, in theory, if he doesn’t get cleared on Tuesday they will be forced to [pull him from the EC match] you can’t just risk the idea that he’s going to be okay by Sunday. Plus, they’re gonna do this gauntlet match with everyone so they need to plug someone in.”
WWE will reassess the former 205 Live highflyer at tonight’s episode of SmackDown but plans are already believed to be in place for a replacement should he not be deemed fit.
RAW TALENT Charlotte Flair to replace Becky Lynch at WrestleMania
Meltzer believes the legendary Rey Mysterio and Andrade are the two leading candidates to fill in.
Fans are set to find out this evening whether the popular Ali will be in action this weekend.
