On Thursday the tribute to Princess Diana will be revealed in the gardens of Kensington Palace. Harry has flown in from California and is currently quarantining at Frogmore Cottage.
However one royal insider said there had been no attempt at reconciliation by either party.
Speaking to the Sunday Times they said: “Neither are offering an olive branch.
“I fear it will be the same as at Prince Philip’s funeral, a nod of recognition and that’s about it.”
The statue unveiling will take place on what would have been Diana’s 60th birthday.
On Monday, the Queen begins a four-day visit to Scotland, and won’t be attending the ceremony.
Relations between William and Harry have become increasingly tense over the past few years.
In March the Sussexes’ gave an extraordinary interview to US talk show legend Oprah Winfrey.
Speaking about his brother Harry said: “As I’ve said before, I love William to bits.

In response William insisted the royals are “very much not racist” whilst visiting a London school.
Prince Charles, who was married to Diana for 15 years, will also miss the statue unveiling.
Speaking to the Sunday Times a friend said: “He does find it terribly difficult.
“These moments have the potential to resurface old wounds, and it brings back memories for him; happy, sad, regretful.
“Since Diana’s death, he has felt it’s best to keep those memories to himself and leave his sons to it.”
Harry and William haven’t met since Prince Philip’s funeral in April.
They were pictured chatting outside Windsor Castle’s St George’s Chapel following the service.
The Sussexes stepped down as working royals in March 2020.
They currently live in a £11.2 million mansion in California.
The luxury property comes complete with a swimming pool, tennis court and guest house.
