Raphael Varane returned to training with Real Madrid on Saturday as talk of a move to Manchester United continues to rumble on. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is determined to sign the France international this summer. So Express Sport will now take a look at what he was spotted doing during the session.

    Stretching with David Alaba

Real Madrid recently signed David Alaba, with the Austria international touching down from Bayern Munich.

And Varane did some stretching alongside the new recruit, along with Luka Modric and Gareth Bale.

The Los Blancos quartet were all put through their paces, having all been involved at the European Championships this summer.

Varane was part of the France side that crashed out to Switzerland, losing on penalties after a thrilling 3-3 draw.

And he’ll be hoping to put that heartache behind him this season, whether he’s strutting his stuff in Spain or England.

As mentioned above, Modric was also involved in the training session.

And the Croatia international was seen passing to Varane as the duo look to get their fitness levels up.

Both players have won eight Champions League titles between them.

And, for Real, that’s the biggest prize on offer.

Varane may not have too many training sessions left, however, with Manchester United determined to snap him up.

    What’s the state of play?

While there have been widespread reports of Varane agreeing personal terms, Express Sport understands that isn’t the case.

Discussions are ongoing regarding that matter, with United willing to pay him £300,000-a-week in order to make the move.

Then, they’ll move on to agreeing a fee.

United are prepared to pay in the region of £35million to £45m to acquire the World Cup winner.

But Real, who are eyeing a move for Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe, would prefer £70m for their prized asset instead.
