Tziporah Malkah: What it was REALLY like working with Elle Macpherson and Portia de Rossi on Sirens 

Tziporah Malkah – formerly known as Kate Fischer – was one of Australia’s hottest models when she signed up to star in what would become an iconic film. 

Starring alongside fellow supermodel Elle Macpherson and then up-and-coming actress Portia de Rossi in the racy 1994 movie Sirens, Tziporah says some rivalry may have been expected – but in fact, the women got along swimmingly. 

Spending countless hours filming scantily-clad and nude scenes together, the trio bonded, and Elle, in particular, was generous and kind to her co-stars.

‘There was never any rivalry. Elle was a professional,’ Tziporah told New Idea on Monday. 

‘She was clever and charismatic, and was lovely to be around,’ Tziporah added of the 57-year-old Aussie model 

‘I do remember she had her lingerie line, and she found out Portia and my sizes from the costume designer and gifted us with a bunch of stuff.’

Tziporah described Portia, 48, who is now married to talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, 63, as ‘conflicted’ about her sexuality during that period.   

‘Portia was outish at the time – she had a boyfriend and kind of had a girlfriend. She sort of knew she was gay, but there were issues. 

‘It’s hard for me to comment, I don’t understand what it’s like to be in that situation. She was conflicted about coming out, I think,’ she added.

Portia has been open about her struggles in revealing her sexuality, saying in 2013 that at one stage, she ‘didn’t want to be a lesbian’. 

Additionally, the Australian actress admitted she was wracked with nerves when she officially came out as gay with now-wife Ellen at the 2005 Golden Globes.
