Divisions and distance will not break Tom Brady and Julian Edelman’s bromance.

On Tuesday, Edelman welcomed quarterback Cam Newton to New England, posting a photo of the pair in Patriots gear on Instagram. Brady responded in the comments a short while later, hinting at where the wide receiver’s heart lies.

“I will always be your #1,” the Buccaneers quarterback wrote, adding a winky face emoji.

Newton joined forces with the Patriots on Sunday with a one-year, incentive-laden deal worth up to $7.5 million. Brady, who played in New England for 20 seasons, later showed his support for the former Panthers quarterback.

Brady joined the Buccaneers in March, signing a two-year, $50 million contract. A month later, the six-time Super Bowl champ spoke about how he and Edelman will manage the recent shift in their relationship.

“Jules knows how I feel about him. I love that guy. He’s like a brother to me. We have been through so much and nobody is as big a fan of Julian than me,” Brady said during the NFL’s Draft-A-Thon.

He added of Edelman, “He will be great whoever he plays with. As you guys know, there’s a business side to sports. Things happen. You have to take it day-by-day, like we’re all experiencing. Things change pretty quickly in the world and in our lives.”

Prior to Brady jumping ship to the Buccaneers, Edelman lobbied for his longtime friend to stay put in New England, hawking “Stay Tom” merchandise online. Edelman later addressed Brady’s departure from New England, sharing a “family” photo on social media.
