Asda shoppers will have noticed the supermarket making changes to become more sustainable. These are the latest updates from the retailer.
In July and August, ‘Picnic Rangers’ appointed by Asda will host more than 400 litter picks.
Around 8,000 people are expected to take part to clean up their local area.
By doing this, the supermarket giant hopes to make having picnics a more sustainable activity.
Suzanne Roe, Senior Manager, Better Communities at Asda said: “We know that last summer many of the beaches, parks and beauty spots across the UK were left with litter strewn around at the end of long sunny days and weekends.

“I don’t think any of us want to see that this year, so we’ve enlisted our team of Picnic Rangers to help encourage us to picnic responsibly.
“The Picnic Rangers will be coordinating over 400 litter picks across the country and will also be sharing the best kept local beauty spots for people to enjoy.
“We encourage people to visit their local Asda store to see when their next local litter pick is and to join us in keeping beauty spots beautiful for everyone.”
Recycling has been at the forefront of Asda’s recent changes and this initiative will be no different.
Plastic trays have been replaced with pouches following a successful trial.
This swap will cut the amount of plastic packaging being used by up to 50 percent.
Posting on Twitter, some shoppers commented on the latest changes.
One posted: “Some positive news!” while another simply said: ‘Well done @asda this is amazing!”
