She made a name for herself as the zombie hunting Maggie Greene.

But Lauren Cohan was ready to talk about life beyond The Walking Dead in her new cover story for Women’s Health, out now.

The New Jersey-born talent, 39, stunned in an array of swimsuits as she opened up about her next chapter, telling the magazine: ‘If your principles are rock solid, then the place you’re supposed to go is unmissable.’

After 11 seasons on the air, The Walking Dead will say goodbye next year, putting Lauren at a crossroads.

‘I felt a genuine, legitimate, let-go moment the other day where I thought, Maybe you don’t do anything,’ she admitted to WH.

‘My brain wanting a plan was me not having enough faith in the unknown,’ she went on, adding: ‘But if your principles are rock solid, then the place you’re supposed to go is unmissable.’

One of those principles is listening to her intuition, something which lead her to take a break from social media.

‘I felt like I was not at the right level,’ she explained, later adding how she felt like there were: ‘Dark clouds in your head where you just literally cannot, at that moment, think of anything encouraging or positive or worthwhile about yourself or anything around you.’

‘I needed a mental health break,’ Cohan went on.

‘When I think of health, I think of my mind first. It was about getting away from that culture of comparison.’

Last September it was confirmed that The Walking Dead was coming to an end.

AMC revealed the news last fall, explaining that the final season will feature 24 episodes, stretched out over two years, whereas previous seasons have only had 16 episodes.

The zombie-heavy series – from creator Robert Kirkman – will continue airing through to late 2020, with the show getting a fittingly slow and painful death.

However, true to form, the zombies are never really dead – as AMC has said it still plans to expand the Walking Dead universe, with two more spin-offs, including a straight-to-series order for a drama that will follow Daryl (Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride).

At the time, Ed Carroll, chief operating officer of AMC Networks, said in a statement: ‘The Walking Dead made television history, and is one of those rare creative works that has given life to an entire content universe that is still in the early stages of growing and entertaining both new and established fans.’

‘We can’t wait to bring viewers this expanded final season of The Walking Dead over the next two years, and launch the fourth series in the history of the franchise, focused on the beloved Daryl and Carol characters, with the incredibly talented Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Angela Kang and Scott M. Gimple.’

‘There really is so much ‘walking’ ahead, in a number of very exciting directions, for this extraordinary creative universe we call The Walking Dead.’

The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights on AMC.
