The Walking Dead: Negan Smith saves Maggie Rhee TWICE as villainous Reapers try to hunt her down

Maggie Rhee was saved twice by Negan Smith while being hunted down by the Reapers on Sunday’s episode of The Walking Dead on AMC.

The season 11 episode titled Hunted opened with the Reapers in the middle of their night ambush against Maggie [Lauren Cohan] and her crew while they were on a supply mission.

Daryl Dixon [Norman Reedus] and his trusty canine companion Dog were separated from the group during the attack and Gabriel Stokes [Seth Gilliam] was slashed in the neck and shot with an arrow.

Alexandria meanwhile was being rebuilt as damaged walls were being patched up amid a food shortage in the community.

Carol Peletier [Melissa McBride] told Aaron [Ross Marquand] that she was determined to retrieve their lost horses to prevent the community from starving to death.

The episode showed the children of Alexandria, including Judith, RJ, Hershel and Gracie, coping with the absence of their parents.

‘Do you ever worry about your mom when she goes away?,’ Hershel asked Judith.

‘I’m used to it. Grown-ups are always running off doing things. ”Promise I’ll see you soon. Love you”,’ Judith replied with a chuckle.

Hershel said the adults said that to make themselves feel better.

‘Still, my mom always comes back,’ Judith said.

Maggie was then seen solo heading into an abandoned mall with a Reaper on her trail.

A zombie could be heard growling as Maggie sought safety with her flashlight illuminating the way.

She lost her flashlight fighting off a zombie and was then attacked from behind by a Reaper but stabbed him and escaped.

Father Gabriel in the forest said a prayer before yanking an arrow out of his leg and he started haltingly toward a wounded Reaper.

Maggie was startled by Alden [Callan McAuliffe] but their reunion was cut short when Reapers attacked them both.

A Reaper had a serrated scythe at Maggie’s throat and she was able to stab him before Negan [Jeffrey Dean Morgan] showed up out of nowhere and smashed him with his crowbar.

Alden was seriously wounded by his attacker who set off a flash-bang grenade before making his escape.

Negan suggested they stop, but Maggie insisted they stick to their plan to find food for Alexandria.

‘Listen, I know theatrics. Those people, they just told us exactly how insane they are. We can’t be on a road. We can’t be on any road that they could use. It’s a s*** plan,’ Negan told Maggie.

‘Then you tell me a better one that doesn’t starve us all,’ she hissed back.

Maggie, Negan and Alden then heard screaming and came across Agatha [Laurie Fortier] killing zommbies.

Agatha then informed Maggie that Duncan [Marcus Lewis] had been critically wounded by the Reapers and indicated that he wasn’t going to make it.

Duncan made Maggie promise that Agatha would get home and she did before she knifed him in a mercy killing.

Father Gabriel caught up with the wounded Reaper he was tracking and found him bleeding heavily while resting on a log.

The Reaper asked Gabriel to pray for him after killing some of his friends.

‘I thought you were a man of God,’ the Reaper said.

‘God isn’t here anymore,’ Gabriel said before he struck and killed the Reaper.

Maggie meanwhile was dealing with twice as many walkers as she expected as well as Negan who was trying to get her to change her plan.

‘I can help you. You know, your friends, they trusted me. You were gone for a long time. Things change. People change,’ Negan told her.

No prayer: ‘I thought you were a man of God,’ the Reaper said, but Gabriel said God wasn’t there anymore and killed him

‘No. Maybe you’ve got them fooled, but not me. Stop pretending you’re one of us, Negan. Maybe you even believe it. But you’re probably as good at lying to yourself as you are to everybody else,’ Maggie said.

Maggie, Negan, injured Alden and Maggie then set off, but soon were overwhelmed by walkers.

Agatha got bit in the arm and was swarmed by zombies as Maggie rushed in to save her.

Negan, however, saved her life again and grabbed Maggie who yelled at him to let her go.

‘No! No! No! No! No!,’ she shouted as Agatha was consumed by zombies, breaking her promise to Duncan.

Carol along with Rosita Espinosa [Christian Serratos], Magna [Nadia Hilker] and Kelly [Angel Theory] was able to find the horses and brought them back to Alexandria.

Too late: ‘No! No! No! No! No!,’ Maggie  shouted as Agatha was consumed by zombies, breaking her promise to Duncan

The kids were brought a plate of horse meat and Hershel urged them to take ‘really small bites’ and chew it fast.

Hershel revealed that he ate it before while on the road with his mother.

Maggie, Negan and Alden took refuge in an abandoned church and Alden urged them to go on without him since he was injured and ‘dead weight’.

Horses back: Carol along with Rosita Espinosa [Christian Serratos], Magna [Nadia Hilker] and Kelly [Angel Theory] was able to find the horses and brought them back to Alexandria

Kids meal: Gracie and the children were served horse meat

Sage advice: Hershel urged them to take ‘really small bites’ and chew it fast as he revealed that he ate horse meat before while on the road with his mother

Negan urged Maggie to make a decision and she blamed him for destroying everything they built.

‘You still have to decide,’ Negan told her.

Maggie then gave Alden a knife as she decided to leave him behind.

Dead weight: Maggie, Negan and Alden took refuge in an abandoned church and Alden urged them to go on without him since he was injured and ‘dead weight’

‘You better be here when we get back,’ Maggie told him.

‘You better come back,’ Alden replied.

Alden locked and barricaded himself inside the church and Negan violently killed a walker outside leaving blood dripping from his crowbar.

Maggie then walked ahead of him as the episode concluded.

The Walking Dead will return next week on AMC.
