The rural Surrey village Dame Judi Dench calls home – where average house is £1.1million

    Dame Judi Dench, 87, has had a successful acting career, taking her all over the world. Through her roles, she has received various different awards including an Academy Award, a Tony Award and two Golden Globe Awards to name a few. Despite growing up in York, Judi now resides in a quiet Surrey village.

    Having lived in Outwood, Surrey for more than 20 years, Judi is one of Surrey’s most famous residents.

    Her home is said to boast a swimming pool, workshops, barns, and a pond. It is believed to be more than 7,000 square-feet in size and also comes with a separate cottage.

    The Oscar winner has shared various photos of her home throughout the years, but recently admitted her house was “falling down” a bit, according to The Mirror.

    Homes don’t come cheap in the area though, with properties in Outwood selling for an average of £1,120,250 over the last year, according to Rightmove.

    Surrey is the ideal home for many famous faces thanks to its close proximity to the capital. 

    Born in Hampton, Queen’s Brian May, lives in Windlesham in the Surrey Heath borough of Surrey.

    Properties in Windlesham had an overall average house price of £931,329 over the last year, according to Rightmove. 

    The majority of sales in Windlesham during the last year were detached properties, selling for an average price of £1,185,174. 

    Semi-detached properties sold for an average of £584,167, with flats fetching £306,875.

    Overall, sold prices in Windlesham over the last year were 26 percent up on the previous year and 22 percent up on the 2017 peak of £760,432.

    The town is famous for Windlesham Manor, which is currently used as a care home, an Edwardian house that is the former home of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who wrote the Sherlock Holmes series.

    The area also has plenty of country pubs to enjoy as well as local garden centres and tea rooms.
